What Is CyberNut?

CyberNut was built for the purpose of protecting schools by training faculty, staff and students to identify cyber threats. Our unique practical approach towards phishing training is the reason why we see such an improvement in engagement.

Purpose of Campaigns

Campaigns are the core delivery method of the Cybernut program—structured timeframes where training emails are sent to staff to build awareness and strengthen cybersecurity habits. Each campaign is designed with a specific goal in mind, from preparing users during onboarding to simulating real phishing threats, measuring current behaviors, and reinforcing compliance. Together, they create a comprehensive, engaging approach to security awareness training.

Types of Campaigns

Baseline Campaign

The Baseline Campaign is used to determine if a district is in need of a reporting tool. This campaign is a Free Trial offered to all districts. Once you have partnered with CyberNut, we encourage you to begin your Onboarding and Phishing Training Campaign to quickly get your staff reporting any potential threats. 

Onboarding Campaign

This campaign sends staff a welcome email and a short, 1-minute tutorial on how to identify and report potential email threats—laying the groundwork for confident participation moving forward. The onboarding campaign can be scheduled separately or during the scheduling of your phishing training campaign.

Phishing Training Campaign

Strengthen your staff’s instincts with ongoing, adaptive simulations. This campaign sends phishing emails tailored to each recipient’s behavior—giving them the chance to spot and report threats in real time. Correct responses earn acorns, while any missteps trigger a quick, targeted micro-lesson to reinforce safer habits. It’s a continuous, low-pressure way to build lasting awareness all school year long.

Compliance Campaign

This campaign delivers mandatory compliance training directly from Cybernut—ensuring staff get what they need, when they need it. Admins can easily track who’s completed the materials (and who hasn’t), keeping everything organized and accountable without the hassle.

Student Training Campaign

Student Training Campaigns are designed specifically for middle and high school learners. This campaign includes 19 engaging lessons with optional quizzes covering media literacy, device and account security, healthy technology use, cybersecurity basics, and safe online behavior. Administrators can easily schedule campaigns and choose the exact date each lesson is emailed to students, making it simple to align training with classroom goals and school calendars.
