# Overriding Lessons and Modules in the Gradebook (Teachers)

## When you complete CyberStudent lessons with your whole class, students don’t get credit automatically, because they didn’t complete the work in their own accounts. Use a Gradebook override to mark lessons or entire modules as complete for your students.

Open the Gradebook

1. Go to **Reports & Tools \> Gradebook Tools \> Gradebook**.
2. Filter by your **Location**, the **Course** and **Module**, and your class **Roster**, then click **GO**.You can also filter by grade level instead of roster to override every student in that grade.
3. When the roster loads, make sure all the students in your class are listed.\[Screenshot: 01-roster-loaded.png\]

Override video lessons watched as a class

Use this option when the class watches the videos together, but students finish the rest of the module, including the quiz, on their own.

1. Check the box at the top of the column under the video title. This marks the video complete for every student listed.
2. When the pop-up asks if you’re sure, click **Continue**.
3. Repeat for any other videos watched as a class, then click **SAVE**.\[Screenshot: 02-videos-overridden.png\]

Students can now complete the rest of the module on their own devices. Their progress is tracked and their quiz grades are recorded in the Gradebook automatically. You can override any part of the module completed as a class and leave the rest for students to do independently.

 Override an entire module

Use this option when the class completes the whole module together, including the quiz. This must be done for students to get credit for a module completed in a whole-class setting.

1. Check the box at the top of the **Quiz** column.
2. Enter a class grade. For example, enter 100 if you completed the quiz together as a class.
3. Click **SAVE**.\[Screenshot: 03-module-overridden.png\]

The whole module is now marked complete. Each student receives the module badge, and their progress is recorded automatically.

 Reset a student

If a module was overridden for the whole class and a student was absent, reset that student so they can complete the module on their own.

1. Go to the **Gradebook**.
2. Filter by **Location**, **Course**, and **Module**.
3. Type the student’s name in the **Search** box and click **GO**.\[Screenshot: 04-reset-search-filter.png\]
4. Check the box to the left of the student’s name.\[Screenshot: 05-reset-select-student.png\]
5. In the **Reset** menu, select **Individually**, then click **OK** in the confirmation message.\[Screenshot: 06-reset-dropdown.png\]
6. Click **SAVE**.

### Reset several students at once

1. Filter the Gradebook down to the roster.
2. Check the box to the left of each student you want to reset.
3. In the **Reset** menu, select **Select All**, then click **OK** to confirm.
4. Click **SAVE**.

 Tips for Teachers

- **Override before class:** If you plan to watch the videos together, override them before class starts. When students log in to work on their own, they can go straight to the rest of the module.
- **Check for absent students:** After a whole-class override, reset any student who was absent so they can complete the module on their own.
