# Overriding Lessons and Modules in the Gradebook (School Managers)

## When a teacher completes CyberStudent lessons with a whole class, students don’t get credit automatically, because they didn’t complete the work in their own accounts. As a School Manager, you can use a Gradebook override to mark lessons or entire modules as complete for any class or grade level at your school.

Open the Gradebook

1. Go to **Reports & Tools \> Gradebook Tools \> Gradebook**.
2. Filter by your school’s **Location**, the **Course** and **Module**, and the **Roster** you want to override, then click **GO**.To override every student in a grade level at your school, filter by grade level instead of roster.
3. When the roster loads, make sure all the students you want to override are listed.\[Screenshot: 01-roster-loaded.png\]

Override video lessons watched as a class

Use this option when the class watches the videos together, but students finish the rest of the module, including the quiz, on their own.

1. Check the box at the top of the column under the video title. This marks the video complete for every student listed.
2. When the pop-up asks if you’re sure, click **Continue**.
3. Repeat for any other videos watched as a class, then click **SAVE**.\[Screenshot: 02-videos-overridden.png\]

Students can now complete the rest of the module on their own devices. Their progress is tracked and their quiz grades are recorded in the Gradebook automatically. You can override any part of the module completed as a class and leave the rest for students to do independently.

 Override an entire module

Use this option when the class completes the whole module together, including the quiz. This must be done for students to get credit for a module completed in a whole-class setting.

1. Check the box at the top of the **Quiz** column.
2. Enter a class grade. For example, enter 100 if the class completed the quiz together.
3. Click **SAVE**.\[Screenshot: 03-module-overridden.png\]

The whole module is now marked complete. Each student receives the module badge, and their progress is recorded automatically.

 Reset a student

If a module was overridden for the whole class and a student was absent, reset that student so they can complete the module on their own.

1. Go to the **Gradebook**.
2. Filter by **Location**, **Course**, and **Module**.
3. Type the student’s name in the **Search** box and click **GO**.\[Screenshot: 04-reset-search-filter.png\]
4. Check the box to the left of the student’s name.\[Screenshot: 05-reset-select-student.png\]
5. In the **Reset** menu, select **Individually**, then click **OK** in the confirmation message.\[Screenshot: 06-reset-dropdown.png\]
6. Click **SAVE**.

### Reset several students at once

1. Filter the Gradebook down to the roster.
2. Check the box to the left of each student you want to reset.
3. In the **Reset** menu, select **Select All**, then click **OK** to confirm.
4. Click **SAVE**.

 Tips for School Managers

- **Overrides affect everyone listed:** Checking a column header marks every student in the current filter as complete. Double-check your roster or grade-level filter before you save.
- **Help teachers with whole-class instruction:** Remind teachers who teach modules as a whole class that students only get credit after an override. Without one, those students show as not complete in your reports.
- **Override before class:** If a class will watch the videos together, override them ahead of time so students can go straight to the rest of the module when they log in.
